AUTHORING ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT
Electronic document authoring and time stamping could be performed, using application eParakstītājs, or online available applet .
It is valuable to know the following:
- You will need an E-ME smart card with certificates. The E-ME smart cards with certificates are available in the offices of Latvia POST. You can find the list of the post offices in E-ME home page.
- In order to use the smart card, you will need a smart card reader which is whether a computer-built in or an adjustable to the computer, also you must have the smart card drivers installed on the computer. The smart card readers may be purchased in the offices of Latvia Post or from another venders of IT products. Latvia Post has tested 2 (two) kinds of the smart card readers. - Additionally to the smart card and the smart card reader it is essential to have a computer running under the WINDOWS operating system, the Internet connection and a free of charge software which can be downloaded here.
- With the software needed for signing electronic documents you can also verify those documents. If you sign the document with an e-signature it means you can verify e-signed documents as well.
- All the documents signed with the E-ME signature and verification application eParakstitajs have the file extension *.edoc.
- A document E-ME *.edoc is a container which may consist of one or more files and one or more e-signatures with or without the time stamps.
